Audit Manager

Reports To

Executive Manager/AGM

Job Purpose

To carry out audits, evaluate risks and report on audit findings

Generic Accountabilities

1. People Management Manage, motivate and develop individual employees and the team in line with people policies & practices. Communicate operational procedures.
2. Corporate Governance and Compliance Work fully within risk policies and procedures and compliance regulations and ensure all divisional activities comply with corporate governance & regulatory/legal frameworks

Specific Accountabilities

  1. Audit plan: Explain audit plans and objectives to auditees and ensure the scope of the audit and audit process is understood
  2. Auditing: Carry out audits, report on progress, complete checks, ensure audit are completed on time and in line with defined scope and IAD procedures
  3. Compliance issues Identify and report compliance issues, assess implications and raise with auditees
  4. Internal controls Test internal control systems and report on their adequacy, efficiency and effectiveness
  5. Risk, fraud etc. Assess risk of frauds and irregularities and report on these effectively
  6. Data analysis: Analyze and evaluate data on a continuous basis. Structuring, centralizing and scheduling queries for automatic interrogation on data to provide required results. Presenting results in a format understandable by the business and executive management.
  7. Confidentiality: Ensure confidentiality and secured retention of hard or electronic data, information and records.
  8. Reporting Report on audit and investigations, present to auditees and ensure follow up and validation on audit issues
  9. Audit Investigations: Carry out investigations into irregularities/fraud and provide independent opinion based on facts, policies, procedures, etc.


Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Certification/Experience in Commerce Finance or a degree relevant to Internal Audit of Banking/Financial services
Additional Professional Qualification & Certification in either CA, ACCA, CPA or studying for CIA


•    At least 7 years professional experience 
•    Banking sector experience
•    Experience of investigations
•    Reporting experience


Any deviation to Education & Experience requirements requires BAC prior approval. 


•    Audit standards and regulations and working knowledge of banking operations and Information technology.  
•    Audit techniques and processes

Work Contact

Internal Stakeholders: Contacts are with all Senior Management of all business and support units for information management as needed

External Stakeholders: Deals with external auditors, regulatory bodies and consultants as required
