Job Purpose

Carry out database administration and provide support to systems operations 

Generic Accountabilities

1. People Management Supervise employees and the team in line with people policies & practices. Communicate operational procedures.

Specific Accountabilities

  1. 1.    Database administration Manage database administration and ensure archiving, updating, recovery processes are robust 
    2.    Availability Deliver continuous service availability through availably management and problem resolution
    3.    Capacity Manage and configure system capacity to minimize downtime
    4.    Disaster recovery Ensure disaster recovery capabilities are in place and are tested for functionality 
    5.    Maintenance, Planning and manage upgrades of systems, databases, firewalls etc.
    6.    Documentation Ensure documentation of processes, policies and procedures is current and available 
    7.    Supplier management Manage suppliers and ensure they work in line with requirements and deliver value for money
    8.    Performance management Monitor and report on infrastructure performance and identify areas of improvement 
    9.    Reporting Provide daily, weekly and monthly KPI metrics and other performance reports.
    10.    Security Protect, implement and maintain data security, auditing and confidentiality of production data. 
    11.    Corporate Governance Work closely with IT Security, Audit and Risk teams for approvals, reviews and granting of access to data.

Education

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Certification/Experience in Information Sciences and Technology

Experience

  • At least 5 year’s professional experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Banking sector experience
  • Infrastructure Systems (Network, SAN Storage, Virtualization
  • Security management
