Head of Strategic and Reputation Risk

Job Purpose

Establish strong and clearly defined Strategic Risk and Reputation and handling and management capability in the Bank. Ensure that strategic risks and reputation risks relevant to the Bank are by implement necessary frameworks, systems and procedures to ensure the safety and soundness of the Bank on the strategic risk and reputation risk fronts.

Generic Accountabilities

1. People Management Manage, motivate and develop individual employees and the team in line with people policies & practices. Communicate operational procedures.
2. Corporate Governance and Compliance Work fully within risk policies and procedures and compliance regulations and ensure all divisional activities comply with corporate governance & regulatory/legal frameworks

Specific Accountabilities

  1. Strategic Risk management. Oversee definition, identification, monitoring, controlling and reporting of the following key strategic and reputation risks faced by the Bank: (Strategic Risk ,Business Strategy related Risk, Competition Risk, Performance Risk, Project Risk, Reputation Risk)
  2. Strategic Risk policy & procedures: Ensure implementation of strategic risk and reputation risk frameworks to effectively monitor strategic risk and reputation risk across the Bank.  
  3. Process testing: Ensure initiatives undertaken at various levels are examined to identify strategic risk and reputation risk factors and fine-tuned factors based on experience gained over time.
  4. Risk Identification plan: Ensure that the environment is scanned to identify strategic and reputation risks.
  5. Risk techniques and tools: Ensure that an effective system exists across the organisation to effectively report business, competition and performance related issues that impact the Bank negatively - so as to enable timely remedial action at appropriate levels. 
  6. Risk policy & procedures: Ensure policies, guidelines and procedures for managing strategic risk and reputation risk are developed.
  7. Compliance: Ensure that strategic and reputation risks are assessed before strategic initiatives are undertaken/launched.  
  8. Risk Control: Risk Review the Bank’s risk limitation and control strategies and adjust strategic and reputation risks profiles accordingly, taking into consideration the Bank’s overall risk appetite and profile.  
  9. Reporting: Report to management on Strategic Risk and Reputation Risk issues and ensure inputs are accurate aligned.
  10. Monitoring: Ensure development of suitable models for monitoring strategic risks and reputation risk of the Bank. 


Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Certification/Experience in Finance


  • At least 8 years in a credit, financial or market risk role
  • International banking experience


  • One or all of credit risk, financial risk, market risk
  • Banking systems, corporate banking and consumer banking.
  • Risk assessment tools and methodologies
  • Banking systems, corporate banking and consumer banking.
